My Builds

Project 1973 Porsche 911 (Part 1)

  • I rescued this car from the basement of a house where it had been completely disassembled by the original owner in the mid-80's. He had decided to color change the car from it's original 107 Light Yellow to white.

He bought some books, (they were included in the deal...), on how to sand a car and began removing the paint as well as the engine and most of the body parts.

When he removed them, he didn't bother to catalog anything so when I bought the car I was given the keys, the title, the rolling chassis, the engine on a pallet and several crates full of parts.

    That's where this story begins...

Beginning to "uncrate" all the unbolted and uncatalogged parts.

    Seats and stuff...

Just tie that AC compressor on. I think it's wind powered anyway. Hey at least the bumperette is white!

    Yes they shared parts.

No rear windshield installed, or rear deck, or seats, or...

After getting it home. I scheduled an appointment for paint so I took the rest of the interior out and saved what I could. The carpet was a goner and the seats will need to be reupholstered. The front windshield is missing and there is a tiny less than one inch crack in the dash. Not sure if I will replace the entire dash or try to keep it as original as possible.

I'm still trying to decide whether to Dynomat the car or not. I know that's what everyone is doing these days but it seems a little extreme over the jute that came with the car. Anyone know if this would impact the value at all?
